Green Technologies That Are on the Rise
Green Technologies produce products that are Eco-friendly. These are produced in a sustainable process. They can be anything from office copy paper made with recycled material to potato chips made in a factory that runs on Solar Power. This same company now packages their chips in a bag that is made from plants and can be composted. They are out in front. People are opting to use Bamboo wood flooring because it is sustainable. Why? It grows fast. How about using re-claimed wood for furniture? Or flooring? Why wouldn't we? It makes good sense. We buy cleaning products that are bio-degradable and friendly to the environment. These products made from Green Technologies are also easier on us too. We don't have to worry about pets getting into a cleaner that is poison. Or even worse our children. We have Home insulation that is Soy based. It can be sprayed or injected. It has a higher R-value than fiberglass and seals against air leaks. The spray foam or closed cell as it is called expands about 6 times and that is how it seals. The Injection foam is a hybrid mix of closed and open cell and like is suggested is injected into walls. Since it doesn't expand it fills the existing cavity and cures in place. It's used mostly in retro-fit situations. It can be used in walls even if they already have fiberglass or blown insulation. The other new product is Denim Insulation. That's right, recycled blue jeans chopped up and formed into bats. Insulation installers love it because it doesn't itch like fiberglass. So whether a product is made with Green Energy or just by renewable and sustainable means we can all do our part by looking for and buying them. By supporting these products we reduce our carbon footprint and make this a better world. Not sure if you are doing your part? Next time you hang out a load of laundry, pat yourself on the back. You are using your Solar clothes dryer. See if you can live with setting your thermostat a little lower in the winter and higher in the summer. Install a water saving shower head. You won't be able to tell the difference until you get your water bill. It can start this simply.
