Have you heard of this where cities around the U.S. are buying large lots of Solar panels to get the cost down? If you are interested in how to set something like this up you can find info here:http://www.nrel.gov/publications/
Then do a doc search for Solarize Guidebook. You can download the PDF file and it will show you the way. Some cities are seeing savings on systems as much as 30-35%. Plus the guidebook goes into financing through municipal loans, credit unions, banks etc.
It is the "buying in bulk" that will save you money and with financing available it makes it a project that works.
So check out the guidebook and get the buzz going in your neighborhood.

Have you heard about this thing? The Earth Roamer. It is not your average motor home. Not by a long shot. I can tell you what it is.
Imagine a self contained vehicle that runs off of biodiesel and uses solar panels for power. You won't need an RV park to enjoy the great outdoors with this 4 wheel drive solar powered off road RV. It doesn't leave you wanting because it has all the comforts of home just like any respectable RV out there and their pricing is comparable to a class A.They are built using a Ford cab and come in Regular cab,Super cab, and Crew cab. They call it the "condo on wheels". You can check out their website here: http://www.earthroamer.com/model-overview/

If you happen to be just out of college or wondering where the jobs are the future seems to be in the Solar industry. However the site is not just about Solar jobs it is about sustainable employment in the renewable energy market. The website is called www.greenjobs.com and I think you would do yourself a favor by going there. You will like what you see. I promise.

May 7, Brain Power

Some of you might wonder if a page titled Brain Power even belongs on a site about Alternative Energy Sources.
Let's examine it for a minute. My first question is: Does the human brain actually produce power? Scientists have proven that the brain does produce electric current so this answer is yes.
Is it Renewable? If you woke up this morning then your power is renewed so this answer is yes. Last question (for now) Is it alternative? Have you ever asked yourself "what was I thinking?" This question implies that sometimes we don't use our brain so this qualifies it as alternative. The question that came to me about 2 years ago was is it possible to learn to use more "Brain Power"? This line of questioning led me to investigate Binaural Beats which led me to the Brain Evolution system. I bought the system and used it for 6 months as directed and I can honestly say it has made a world of difference in my life. My thought process has improved. My concentration is better than ever and as a result my overall quality of life has changed drastically. I invite you to check out the Brain Power page ,click on the banner at the bottom and go check out the Brain Evolution system for yourself. It made a believer out of me and it could help you too.

May 4, Most Energy Efficient State

This just in. After years of being the lead dog California is no longer number one in energy efficiency. The leader as of October 2011 is Massachusetts.
California comes in second followed by New York, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Connecticut and Maryland.

The least efficient states are North Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia, Missouri, and Alabama. In defense of Alabama they are one of the most improved states.
As a country we are number two in energy consumption as far as total use. Number seven per-capita. It's hard to find up to date statistics but as of 2009 we (US) rank 15th. We have a long way to go. This is just my opinion but until our government starts leveling the playing field for grant money. Make it as easy for private citizens to qualify as it is for big business we will stay behind. I read about really good ideas that get caught up in red tape or just plain stalled by special interest groups. OK I'm right at the line here. I don't intend for this blog to be political so I'll stop this post now.

May 3, Planet Solar

Turanor Planet Solar:Built in Kiel Germany and was launched on March,31 of 2010.It's trip around the world started September 27th 2010 from Monaco. To date it is the world's largest solar powered boat and (weather permitting) it will be docking in Miami this Friday May 4th. The boat is covered with over 500 sq. meters of panels producing 93 KW. On the way it stopped off in Cancun during the United Nations World Climate Conference. I don't know about you but I for one think this is about as awesome as it gets when it comes to proving what Solar is capable of. It has a six man crew. What I wouldn't do to be on this boat. The boat is registered in Switzerland and the name Turanor translates to "The Power of The Sun"!!

May 2, Weekly Blog

Starting today I will be writing about Alternative energy and the future. I will be talking about Solar, Wind power, Geothermal,Hydro-Electric and renewable energy in general. Once again I invite you to respond right here on this site with you thoughts. Whether you agree or disagree with me I welcome your input. If you have been on this site before you may notice I've taken the banners down for the "DIY" solar. My reason for this is that I feel they don't tell the whole story. Sure, you can build your own panel for around $100 and you can build a wind turbine for around the same. The problem is you are led to believe that this is all you need. What about an inverter? Can you build one of these for $100? The answer is no and the amount of power put out by a $100 panel will barely run a fan.I'm not saying the information is bad, just misleading. I will be putting up a contact page so if you have questions you can ask them there. I will do my best to get back to you and one thing I will not do is mislead you. I promise.
